The pH Neutralizer™ System is an effective chemical-free, oxidation-based technology exclusively available through Vitasalus/Equinox Products.
Acidic water can leach unhealthy levels of copper from pipes and cause greenish-blue stains on fixtures. It can cause many other corrosion problems as well, and drastically shorten the life of all water-using equipment, including dishwashers, washing machines, hot water heaters as well as fixtures.
PH is an indicator of the acid or alkaline condition of water. The pH scale ranges from 0–14; 7 indicates the theoretical neutral point. When acid pH water (below 6.8) is passed through the filter, calcium carbonate (Calcite) is slowly dissolved into the water, increasing the pH to a neutral level. An automatic back washing cleans the bed and prevents compaction.
For pH levels 6.0 and below, the addition of a media called Corosex (magnesium oxide) is needed to assist in the neutralization. This process raises the pH which, in turn, reduces the potential for leaching of copper pipes, lead and other metals typically found in plumbing systems. Adding some Calcite (and Corosex if used) is necessary about once per year, depending on water usage. Tank has a unique port to add additional media. There is no need to remove the control valve (on back washing units) or cap (on non-back washing units).
