Pleated

Pleated filters are extremely popular when water has high levels of sand, silt and sediment. Pleated filters are washable and reusable (five micron and up), to reduce filtration costs. During the filtration process, a supply of water travels through the pleats of the cartridge and allows for greater collection of sediment and particulate due to increased surface area. These are designed with radial flow, this allows fluid to pass through the cartridge media from an outside-in flow direction throughout the entire cartridge element. Generally you can achieve a longer lifespan, higher flow rates and less pressure drop using a pleated cartridge.
